Torbreck Woodcutter’s Mataro Rosé 2024

Drink nowRed wineAustralia92 points - Erin Larkin, Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate Screw cap

Barossa rosé, but not as you know it 🌸🍑

The 2024 Torbreck Woodcutter’s Rosé takes Mataro (aka Mourvèdre) and gives it a fresh, savoury spin. Made in a dry, Provençal-inspired style, it’s crisp, textural, and seriously food-friendly.

Expect watermelon, peach and a touch of provencal herbs and savoury charcuterie. There’s weight and texture here too—thanks to the Mataro—making it more than just a pretty pink.

Whether it’s lunch in the sun or dinner on a cool night, this is rosé that plays both sides beautifully. Dry, serious, and delicious.

What the experts say about this wine

The 2024 Woodcutter's Rosé is 100% Mataro (Mourvèdre, for those not in Australia or Portugal), and the wine conveys earthy richness and density endemic to the variety. This is ripe and full, with flowers and red fruit on the nose and an array of brick dust, sandalwood, hung deli meat and crushed rocks through the finish. The wine was matured in a combination of stainless steel (70%) and old oak for three months. Strawberry, mulberry and blood plum complete the fruit profile. 14% alcohol, sealed under screw cap. Drink 2025-2029.
