Dog Point Section 94 Sauvignon Blanc 2020

The Sauvignon Blanc that rewrote the Marlborough rulebook 🍋🔥

Forget everything you think you know about Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc — Section 94 is in a league of its own. Widely regarded as the most distinctive, and greatest, Sauvignon Blanc made in New Zealand today. Crafted from old vines on Dog Point’s home vineyard, it’s barrel-fermented, wild-yeast aged, and built to evolve for a decade or more.

The 2020 vintage is beautifully poised: citrus and stone fruit at its core, layered with struck flint, nutty lees texture, and a smokey, savoury edge that’s more white Burgundy than New Zealand Sauvignon. It’s complex, dry, and deeply structured — a reminder that great Sauvignon can be as serious as Chardonnay.

What the experts say about this wine

Stunning, with a complex, aromatic mix of beeswax, litsea oil, vetiver and honeysuckle notes
up front, followed by ripe peach, melon and lemon curd flavors at the juicy core. Reveals
whiffs of grilled lemon and smoke that swirl around the flavors, as well as a hint of crushed
rock minerality on a supple, seamless frame. Gains momentum on the epic finish.
