Farr Rising Gamay 2024

Serious Gamay with a Farr twist 🍷🔥

If you think Gamay is all light and juicy, the 2024 Farr Rising Gamay will make you think again. This isn’t Beaujolais—it’s Bannockburn meets Burgundy, crafted with the same meticulous approach as the Farr family’s iconic Pinot Noirs.

The vineyard has history—this Gamay was grafted onto own-rooted Cabernet vines planted in 1999, bringing depth, structure, and a uniquely Australian take on the variety.

Sourced from low-yielding vines, whole-bunch fermented, and aged in old French oak, this is Gamay with depth, spice, and structure. Think vibrant red cherry, layered with subtle earthiness, defined tannins, and a savoury finish that makes it perfect for the dinner table.

With the cult following behind By Farr, don’t expect this one to stick around for long.

What the maker says about this wine 👇

The grapes are hand-picked and sorted in the vineyard, then placed in the tank as whole bunches. The tank is sealed and left for 10 days to ferment naturally and release carbonic fruit aromas. The fruit is foot stomped, pressed on days 11 and 12, and then placed in five-year-old barrels to finish the fermentation process. The wine is bottled eight months later.

The nose of the gamay, so far, is fruitful at first before opening up to reveal berry flavours with earthy and gamey notes. The palate is full of red berry fruits with savoury undertones. The structure is long, earthy and lingering. With vibrant acidy and defined tannins, this wine is full of flavour.
