Immich-Batterieberg Mosel Steffensberg Riesling 2022

Cellar or drinkWhite wineGermany96 points - James Suckling.comCork

A classic Mosel slope — precise, mineral, and beautifully etched 🍏⛰️

Immich-Batterieberg is one of the oldest estates in the Mosel (dating back to the 9th century), and is famous for ultra-traditional, low-intervention Riesling grown on impossibly steep slate terraces. Steffensberg is one of the standout single vineyards: red slate soils, long sunlight exposure, and naturally low yields give intensity without weight.

The 2022 shows pure Mosel elegance — citrus, stone fruits, with that signature smoky-mineral edge from the site. The palate is silky with a long finish.

What the experts say about this wine

Who said that dry Mosel riesling is tart? This beauty is the exact opposite. Dense, but undramatic stone fruit aromas fill out the concentrated medium-bodied palate that has a stunning silkiness through the mind-blowingly long, caressing finish. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold.
