The 2024 L.A.S. Vino CBDB Chenin Blanc pushes the boundaries of what a Margaret River white can be. L.A.S. stands for Luck, Art & Science—the three elements winemaker Nic Peterkin (of Pierro and Cullen Wines lineage) believes are essential to making great wine. And CBDB? Originally Chenin Blanc Dynamite Blend (back when it was a blend), the name now nods to the energy of the vineyard it comes from—a fully biodynamic site that brings serious life to the glass.

This isn’t your everyday aromatic white. Wild-fermented in a mix of clay amphorae and seasoned oak, then aged on lees for added texture, the result is rich yet racy: a layered Chenin with mouth-filling fruit, mineral drive, and striking personality.

L.A.S. Vino

100% Chenin Blanc from one of Margaret River’s few certified organic and biodynamic vineyards—a wild, untrellised site in Yallingup. Planted in 1992, just 2.5km from the sea, this vineyard is biodynamic in every sense of the word: alive, untamed, and full of energy.

In 2024, Nic continued to build on that spirit with a 67/33 split of seasoned French barrique and amphorae. Chenin Blanc Dynamic Blend. While this wine began as a blend, it’s been 100% Chenin Blanc for several years now. The name lives on—not for what’s in the bottle, but for the dynamic vineyard it comes from: one of the few truly biodynamic sites in Margaret River.

The fruit was hand picked and showed varied levels of ripeness across the vineyard. It was chilled overnight, hand sorted, and lightly cold pressed as whole bunches. After natural settling, it underwent wild fermentation in mature French barriques (67%) and clay amphorae (33%). No malolactic. Fortnightly bâtonnage. 11 months on lees. Bottled unfined and lightly filtered. Vegan friendly.
