Phase Three Wines has quickly earned a reputation as one of the Barossa’s most exciting new producers, drawing comparisons with Sami-Odi for their small-batch, detail-driven style. Dero is their flagship Syrah—crafted with precision and vision, and already on the radar of serious collectors.

The 2024 vintage continues that trajectory, sourced from top Barossa fruit and made with a mix of whole bunch and wild fermentation to highlight fragrance, lift, and texture. Expect layers of dark plum, blackberry, and blueberry, with violet and spice notes woven through. Fine tannins and vibrant acidity bring balance to the plush, velvety fruit, making this a wine that is both powerful and refined.

Production is tiny, and with Phase Three’s track record—remember, the inaugural 2020 Dero made waves by being likened to Sami-Odi—this is a label worth following.

What the experts say about this wine

This release is pure Eden Valley at its core wrapped in some Hoffmann Old Vines. This cuvee has an average vine age of over 70 years. All whole cluster fermentations from tiny yields picked at various ripening stages. It’s a structured, elegant wine of class & character that probably doesn't deserve to be jammed into a brown paper bag and called Dero! The blend consists of the following sites: Burley 'Hillside', Wilton Hill "The Old Gold Field Block", Wilton Hill "Old Musty", Vinegarden circa 1895, Hoffmann Wolf's Block. In the end blending this was a breeze. It’s simply our four best available barrels put together!
