Rieslingfreak No.3 Clare Valley Riesling 2025

Clare Valley Riesling at its purest đâĄ
The 2025 Rieslingfreak No.3 Clare Valley Riesling is all about focus, precision, and the mineral drive that defines this iconic style.
Crafted by John Hughesâbetter known as Rieslingfreakâthis has become one of the benchmarks for Australian Riesling. No.3 is his Clare Valley flagship, sourced from the Hughes family vineyard in White Hutt. Planted on classic Terra Rossa red clay soils, the site produces Riesling with both richness and structure, power and delicacy in equal measure.
The 2025 release is dry, with citrus at the core, balanced by tropical notes of mango and passionfruit, all carried by taut acidity and a fine mineral line. Itâs energetic now, but will evolve beautifully over the next decade, gaining complexity with time in the cellar.
A classic Clare Valley Rieslingâbuilt for collectors, and for anyone who loves whites that speak of place.

What the experts say about this wine
Rieslingfreak
The No.3 is harvested primarily from the family vineyard, situated in White Hutt, Clare Valley. The grapes are grown on heavy red clay soils that are rich in nutrients and have significant water holding capacity. These classic Terra Rossa soils are responsible for the rich flavours and generous palate weight that has become the hallmark of the No.3. The family vineyard in White Hutt always produces wines of great generosity, and the 2025 No.3 is a uniquely balanced wine that exhibits both richness and delicacy. The nose is richly seductive with aromas of Pink Lady Apples, Meyer lemon, guava and fresh nectarines. The palate is intensely flavoured with zesty citrus-driven flavours of lemon and blood orange, complemented by sweet apple and tropical notes of mango and passionfruit. The lusciously flavoured palate is classically generous yet deceptively delicate, deftly bound by a tight line of crisp acidity that carries through to a long, zesty finish.
